Hawboldt - Deck Equipment, Mid-Shore Patrol Vessels
Chester, Nova Scotia - Hawboldt Industries Ltd. is pleased to announce that have been chosen as a preferred supplier for various deck equipment as part of the $194 million contract for nine new mid-shore patrol vessels awarded to Irving Shipbuilding Inc., based in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 2009. Construction is ongoing on the vessels and all nine vessels will be delivered by 2013.
Hawboldt Industries is supplying nine sets of custom designed anchor windlasses, capstans, towline reels, bow thrusters and hydraulic systems as well as the electrical control system. Also included is installation support and final commissioning of each system. The vessels will replace existing vessels nearing the end of their life expectancies. Five of the vessels will be used primarily to support Department of Fisheries and Oceans conservation and protection programs in the Maritimes, Quebec and Pacific Regions. The other four vessels will be used in a joint program with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to enhance the maritime security along the Great Lakes - St. Lawrence Seaway system. As the supplier to over 30 different Coast Guard vessels over the past thirty years, Hawboldt Industries is pleased to be chosen as a supplier by Irving Shipbuilding / Halifax Shipyard and the Canadian Coast Guard on this very significant program.
