Goldcorp Narrow-Vein Mining Equipment

Project: The Goldcorp project in Red Lake, Ontario is Canada’s largest gold mine and has one of the world’s richest gold deposits. To operate in the mine’s unusually narrow-vein drifts, Marcotte was contracted to design and fabricate a new smaller line of its vehicle-mounted underground equipment.

Challenge: While Marcotte engineers were well-prepared to develop a vehicle platform suited to the small drift size, the true challenge was to source and implement a complete range of application components and tools consistent with Marcotte’s proven equipment designs, and fit them to these smaller units.

Success: The new equipment we developed for this project met all of Goldcorp’s requirements for narrow-vein mining. The line has since become part of Marcotte’s standard fleet designs.
