Engineered Upgrade for Quadruple Head Sheave

Project: Agnico Eagle, a Canadian-based gold producer, commissioned Timberland Equipment to manufacture a custom quadruple head sheave assembly to replace an existing unit at its Goldex mine in Val d’Or, Quebec.

Challenge: The design of the new sheave assembly was required to improve on the performance and durability characteristics of the original assembly while matching all of the existing mounting requirements.

Success: Timberland’s 3D modeling technology allowed our engineering group to design an assembly with higher capacity and extended longevity benefits in an assembly that fit into the pre-existing installation constraints. The design also provided for improved servicing with replaceable polyurethane liners and independent lubrication provisions for ease of maintenance.
