Towing Winch and Controls for Bisso Marine

Project: Bisso Marine Company Inc. of New Orleans, Louisiana, contracted Timberland Equipment to retrofit a 2400 HP class tugboat with a hydraulically powered double‑drum towing winch, complete with hydraulic power unit kit and associated controls.

Challenge: Timberland was called upon to fit the winch and its power components into the customer’s constricted footprint requirement and to integrate the system with the tugboat’s existing hydraulic system.

Success: With assistance from the highly qualified service engineers at Hawboldt Industries, the winch system was successfully installed according the client’s requirements and the tugboat, called the “Darlene Bisso,” went into service between Baton Rouge, Louisiana and the Gulf of Mexico.
