Engineered mine hoists & winches

Available for a wide variety of load lifting and moving requirements for underground shafts, slopes, or building construction, Timberland provides material- and personnel-rated hoists to suit all safety code requirements in your area.

All Timberland hoists feature excellent load control and ‘inching’ capabilities with either a closed loop hydraulic drive system or variable DC or AC motor controllers.

General Purpose Hoists and Boom Winches

Ideal for a variety of load lifting or pulling applications, these hoists are available with electric or hydraulic drives to suit your application.

  • Spring applied-power released drive line brake
  • Anti-friction roller bearings mounted in pillowblocks
  • Final reduction through machine cut gear set for heavy duty applications
  • Fabricated steel drums available in any width to suit your required rope length

Material & Derrick Hoists

Timberland HR-Series Multi-Drum Hoists feature:

  • Modular design for units with 1, 2, 3 or 4 drums
  • Drum brakes rated for 150% of rated linepull
  • Drum locking dog provides positive load lock
  • Diesel, Gas or Electric power

Personnel Hoists

PH-Series Hoists for underground shaft and slope applications:

  • Modular design with separate drum, controls, hydraulic power unit modules
  • Large drum core to wire rope diameter ratio
  • linepull 2,600 to 24,000 lbs. (1 200 to 11 000 kg)

SW-Series Hoists for Chimney and Tower Construction applications

  • Power up-power down with single lever control
  • Dual braking systems
  • Simplex controller: overspeed, travel limit control

Mine Emergency Escape Systems

Portable and stationary modular systems with electric or diesel-powered hoists. Optional personnel cage, lattice or telescoping boom and swing modules. Standard safety features include:

  • Two independent automatic brake systems
  • Simplex hoist controller for over travel, over speed and depth protection
  • Independent final upper travel limit at boom tip
  • Automatic control sequence

Mine Service & Slope Hoists

All hoists incorporate dual independent braking systems with safety shutdown systems in the event of over speed, over travel, etc.

  • Variable speed DC and electro-hydraulic drives
  • Drive: 100 HP to 1000 HP

Conveyor Belt Tensioning Winches

Available in a wide variety of configurations and capacities to provide controlled tension in large conveyor belt assemblies.

  • Electric motor drives from 2 HP to 100 HP
  • Single and double drum models
  • Linepull capacities up to 60,000 lbs. (27 000 kg)

Shaft Construction Hoists

These hoists are used to lower shaft platforms to create a new shaft or deepen existing shafts. Available with a central control station to control multiple hoists operating a common platform.

  • 20 HP to 250 HP drives
  • Linepull up to 87,000 lbs. (39 000 kg)
  • Counterweight applied-air released band brake or caliper brakes
  • Spring applied-electric released drive brake

Traction Winches

Available with electric, hydraulic or diesel drives in capacities from 3 T to 500 T. Timberland provides a wide variety of traction winches for horizontal pulling and vertical lifting applications.

These winches are ideal for applications with a continuous loop of rope such as a bi-direction rail car pulling system, or for applications with extremely long lengths of rope. Timberland can also provide an integral or separate reel winder to suit the required rope length.

Projects

Zhangji Mine Emergency Egress

This truck-mounted MRH emergency egress system allows dramatically faster response to maintenance problems deep in the Zhangji Mine in China.

Diavik Diamond Mine - NWT

Marcotte expedited delivery of equipment for new underground operations before ice roads to the mine melted with the Spring thaw.

Galloway Hoists For Scissor Creek

Construction of a new service shaft in the potash mine relies on four synchronized 50-ton winches from Timberland.

Sifto Production Hoist Upgrade

Timberland engineering achieved the required geometry to improve the hoist’s capacity and speed within the existing mounting constraints.
