“THE SYSTEM” for easy matching of tension stringing equipment
“THE SYSTEM” offers a simple way to specify a matched
package of pulling and tensioning equipment for construction of electrical
distribution lines in most common conditions. Listed are four project
schematics identifying the types and configurations of equipment we recommend for:
-
4-drum puller methods
-
small conductor systems
-
medium conductor systems
-
large and sub-transmission systems
Each “system” is versatile and complete package of
equipment for completing your installation project. Consult THE SYSTEM first,
then consult your
Timberland technical representative to review any special
requirements of your application.
The "Polemaster" pilot line winder allows
four pilot ropes to be installed before the pulling process begins. The
pulling rope is pulled to the conductor with the pilot rope (by mounting the
polemaster reel on a truck shaft or a rewind on the tensioner), the conductor
is installed with the pulling rope, then the pulling rope is immediately
retrieved by the rewind for another conductor installation.
Application Guidelines
4 Drum Puller Method |

|
This method utilizing our DP20-4H
– FOR puller is ideal for stringing distribution conductors up to 795 MCM
with 225 foot spans and 4 feet of sag. Smaller conductors may be installed on
longer spans.
This "System" is
normally used for 8,500 feet and shorter conductor installations. The Four
Drum Puller system is very productive for "new" construction as it
allows for the deployment of all four pulling lines in one trip down the
right of way. |
Small Conductor |

|
Our Poleboss Puller/Reel
Brake Tensioning system is receommended for installing conductors up to 556
MCM. Smaller conductors may be installed on longer spans with this
"System".
This 'System' allows for
up to four pulling lines to be deployed at one time and to be pulled back one
at a time. Because of it's size, the Poleboss allows easy access to congested
areas, backyards, etc. |
Medium Conductor |

|
Our DPT-30B Drum Puller/Bullwheel
Tensioner system with the Polemaster pilot line winder is recommended for
installing conductors up to 795 MCM with 350 foot spans and 4 feet of sag. Smaller
conductors may be installed on longer spans.
This "System" is
normally used for 6,000 feet and shorter conductor installations. |
Large/Sub-Transmission |

|
Our DPT-40B Drum Puller/Bullwheel
Tensioner system with the Polemaster pilot line winder is recommended for
installing large distribution and sub-transmission conductors up to 795 MCM with
350 foot spans and 4-1/2 feet of sag.
This "System" is
normally used for 6,000 feet and shorter conductor installations |
